Holiday Helping Hands

The 2024 Helping Hands Program is Now Closed.

Seton Center assists approximately 150 eligible families each year in celebrating the holidays with dignity and joy. For Thanksgiving this year, we will provide a cooked turkey dinner. At Christmas, we will continue to distribute gift cards from local grocery stores (Jubilee Foods, Food Lion, and Weis Markets) to assist families in planning their meals. We also distribute toy/Teen Gift Cards (Target/Walmart) for families with children.

Community members must apply and meet eligibility requirements to participate in the Christmas program.

To be eligible for the Christmas Toy/Teen Gift Card distribution, families pay a nominal fee of $2 for each child (cash only) to receive gifts (infant to 12 years of age) or gift cards (teens). Only the parents/legal guardians of children may request inclusion in the Toy/Teen Gift Card distribution.

The amount of assistance we provide to each family is dependent on the generosity of donations.

To complete the process, you will be asked to provide:

  • Photo ID
  • Proof of income or unemployment (pay stub, letter from employer indicating wages, SSI or SSDI documentation
  • Proof of residency (utility bill, mortgage statement, lease agreement, or letter from landlord/roommate)
  • Proof of custody/guardianship of children in the household
  • A working phone number and email address

Applicants must reside in our service area at the time of application. Please refer to the following to determine your service area eligibility:

  • Thurmont, Lewistown - 21788
  • Emmitsburg - 21727
  • Rocky Ridge - 21778

  • Fairfield, PA  - 17320
  • Ortanna, PA - 17353
  • Cashtown, PA - 17320

You may only participate in one holiday donations program in the area. (e.g. Helping Hands, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, etc.) We coordinate with other nonprofits and anyone who has applied to multiple agencies will be denied.

We invite you to be a blessing for families who may not have as much as we do but are striving to provide their loved ones with the same joy and comfort we may take for granted. Your gift will help make the holidays brighter for families in our community!

GIVE TODAY

We need your Helping Hands! How many families we can serve and how much assistance we can provide is fully dependent on outside donations.

GIVE TODAY and make the holidays more hopeful for our neighbors.

GIVE TODAY

The giving season for Helping Hands is July 1-Dec 31. Gifts made between January 1 and June 30 (excluding recurring gifts specifically marked for HH) may be applied to our greatest need.
