
Back to School Helping Hands
In partnership with United Way of Frederick and Adams counties, this year Seton Center is making sure every child in our service area starts the school year on the right foot!
Seton Center is collecting monetary donations as well as supplies collected on-site and various locations throughout our service area to distribute supplies to families in need.
The amount of assistance we provide to each family is dependent on the generosity of donations.
Here are some examples of what different cash donations might purchase:
Supplies and donations will be collected July 1st through August 1st.
Community members must apply and meet eligibility requirements to participate in the Back to School program.
Applications to be a recipient are open July 7th through July 18th; please call 301-447-6102 x11 or x20 to make an appointment.
To complete the process, you will be asked to provide:
Applicants must reside in our service area at the time of application. Please refer to the following to determine your service area eligibility:
You may only participate in one holiday donations program in the area. (e.g. Helping Hands, Stuff-the-Bus, etc.) We coordinate with other nonprofits and anyone who has applied to multiple agencies will be denied.

- $15 buys pencils, markers, and crayons for one kindergarten student
- $50 supports one elementary student with basic supplies
- $125 provides a middle school student with all necessary supplies
- $200 buys a high school student basic supplies, including a graphing calculator
- $500 provides 10 pre-k students with all necessary supplies

- Proof of income or unemployment (pay stub, letter from employer indicating wages, SSI or SSDI documentation
- Proof of residency (utility bill, mortgage statement, lease agreement, or letter from landlord/roommate)
- Proof of custody/guardianship of children in the household
- A working phone number and email address
