April 28, 2020

Seton Center Outreach and Family Store remain closed. The Family Store is unable to accept any donations at this time.

But while our building may be closed, we remain open to assisting our Northern Frederick County neighbors!

If you are experiencing hardship due to the Covid-19 Crisis, we may be able to help. We ask anyone seeking assistance, whether new or an existing client, to please complete an online request for assistance. This is the fastest, most efficient way to receive help. A case manager will be in touch once your request is received.

If you are looking for a tangible way to make a positive impact on our community during this crisis, please make a gift toward our urgent needs appeal and help provide life sustaining expenses for post-pandemic recovery.

Don’t forget to visit our Prayer Wall to include your special prayer request and to join us in praying over the special intentions of our community.

God Bless all of you and may your and your families stay healthy and safe!

Mission

Seton Center, Inc.’s mission is to work with our neighbors to build a hopeful future, in the Spirit of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, through a focus on the self-sufficiency and well-being of the whole person.

Our Programs

Sponsored and staffed by the Daughters of Charity (DOC), DOC employees, and volunteers, Seton Center Outreach serves all residents of Northern Frederick County, Maryland. While we do provide emergency financial assistance when necessary, our goal is to help our neighbors build bridges out of poverty by offering programs that will educate, empower, and encourage them to move forward to a better, sustainable life. Our goals are to:

  • address basic human needs
  • stem homelessness
  • build strong, healthy families
  • provide referral services
  • maintain the health of seniors
  • provide comfort to the homebound
  • support the transition out of poverty

Seton Family Store

Our family thrift store enjoys a long history, going back to the founding of the original Seton Center in 1969. We offer a variety of high-quality, preloved items donated by community members. We also have a consignment program to help local artisans and small businesses showcase and sell their wares. From stuffed animals to small appliances, furniture to stylish clothing, we have something for everyone in your family. The best part? You can shop easy knowing that not only are you receiving the best quality at the lowest prices, but your purchases directly benefit our Outreach programs and our neighbors in need.

Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00am-4:00pm (Donation hours 9:30am-4:00pm)

Volunteer

Service to our neighbors in need is at the core of our mission. When you volunteer with Seton Center, you take part in bringing about meaningful, enduring change in their lives. You’ll serve with other caring, committed people who share your passion to help build a stronger community. We have numerous opportunities to volunteer – at the Outreach Center, in the Family Store, even at home behind the scenes. We are always looking for caring, committed individuals like you!

Give Hope

Maybe it’s an elderly couple whose water is in danger of being shut off. Perhaps it’s a young man trying to end his addiction. Or a woman who wants to smile again, but is too embarrassed because she can’t afford proper dental care. Your gift can—and will—change someone’s life.

Because The Daughters of Charity generously sponsor our operational costs, 100% of your donation is used to directly help those in need. You can’t find a better return on your giving dollars than that!

Faith lifts the soul, Hope supports it, Experience says it must and Love says...let it be!

Vision

Our vision is to be a leading northern Frederick County, Maryland resource for emergency support services and skill development, catalyzing systemic change for a more vibrant, healthy community.
